Guys Hospital London

'Multiplicity' - Welcome Windows

Here are some images from a project for Guys hospital in London. My brief was to create a large scale illustration for the reception area of the brand new state of the art Chemotherapy Unit. It is installed on four large windows thus creating a lightbox effect.

The illustration is a surreal city scape of London. With the word 'Welcome' in the forty most commonly used languages in London used throughout the piece. The work is very detailed so as to keep people hopefully finding new things within it, every time they visit the hospital.

This work is part of a larger project directed by
Heather Barnett - http://www.heatherbarnett.co.uk/
and poet/writer
Will Holloway - http://www.willholloway.com/
In collaboration with and inspired by, patients, carers and staff at Guys hospital.

"We hope the resulting artworks reflect the multitude of emotional responses and human resilience to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, and will provide a positive distraction to new patients as they undergo treatment" (Heather Barnett)
